The Welsh Food Box Company is a new home delivery service, bringing the best local produce direct to households in South Wales. It was set up by Chris Rees, a local Vale of Glamorgan resident who found that buying, local, high quality farm produce was not always an easy thing to do. It meant spending precious time on weekends travelling to farmers markets and farm shops, only to find that, often, the best produce had sold out. So the idea of an on line farmers market took shape and the Welsh Food Box Company was born.
The Company aims to ensure that people have access to the brilliant range of food that is produced locally, with the convenience of shopping on line to get a fresh food delivery. Its ethos is to make buying local and fresh a convenient and practical reality, whilst also providing a route to market for local producers that avoids dealing with large multinational companies who often offer much smaller margins.
Many of us care where our food comes from and want to support local producers and growers, but we also like the convenience of shopping on line.
The Welsh Food Box Company offers a viable, local alternative to the home delivery service offered by major supermarkets.
The range of produce offered by The Welsh Food Box Company is impressive, covering everything you would expect to pick up at a farmers market, as well as store cupboard ingredients and even household cleaning products.
Most popular are the organic veg and fruit boxes, packed with fresh produce sourced from certified organic farms in Wales and the borders. To expand the range there is also imported organic fruit and exotics from certified organic source. Nothing is air freighted. These great quality boxes haven’t gone unnoticed; The Welsh Food Box Company was recently named in The Independents top 10 UK box schemes.
